Big weekend of beach cleaning on Westray

Whilst Bag The Bruck runs through April, a Norwegian volunteer group sailing with “In the Same Boat” (In The Same Boat) and en route to Shetland for Da Voar Redd Up (Da Voar Redd Up | Shetland Amenity Trust), have been drafted in to help in Westray this weekend. Their objectives are to assist with beach cleans and collaborate on marine litter issues/solutions within the local communities.
If you are interested in meeting up with them or hearing more about their visit please contact 2020johnberry@gmail.com or greenerorkney@gmail.com. The programme is as follows (details of some activities are TBC):
– Friday 19th: morning recce (location TBC), beach clean Tafts low tide at 14:00.
– Saturday 20th: walk/clean Quoygrew/KelpGreen/Grobust at 10am.
– Sunday 21st: beach clean at Tafts – probably 2 sessions, 11am and 2pm (low tide around 15:00)
– Monday 22nd: beach clean TBC, Westray school visit 14:00-16:00 TBC
