Once again there was a tremendous response from Orkney residents during April to the call to carry out 2026’s Bag the Bruck spring clean (a community project coordinated by Greener Orkney) after the winter storms. This year there were more than 64 different events recorded and nearly 1,550 black bags of rubbish picked up.
Despite poor weather at the start of the month, the sun eventually came out, providing some great days for various beach cleans and clean ups around our schools and verges.
