SUMMARY:Screening: People's National Emergency Briefing
DESCRIPTION:Greener Orkney\, with support from Highlands and Islands Climate Hub\, Orkney Renewable Energy Forum and the Kirkwall East Kirk\, are hosting a screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing. The event will take place at the King Street Halls Kirkwall on 5 September at 5.15pm as part of the Orkney Science Festival. \nThe film is part of the wider National Emergency Briefing initiative\, which was created to ensure that the public\, as well as politicians and decision-makers\, are fully informed about the scale of the climate and nature crisis facing the UK. \nThe new 50-minute film brings together key material from expert briefings in a format designed for community screenings across the country. It aims not only to explain the seriousness of the crisis\, but also to encourage discussion about practical\, positive responses that communities and governments can take together. \nOrkney faces challenges linked to energy\, transport\, food resilience\, biodiversity and coastal change\, while also having opportunities to lead in community action and sustainability. The screening will provide a chance for us to watch the film together\, reflect on the evidence presented\, and discuss what meaningful action could look like here in Orkney.
